Your Speaker for the evening will be Jozelle Booker, P.S.C.M.C. Jozelle manages all contracting requirements for MLGW goods and services needed for the operational and functional efficiency as well the administration of the company’s award winning Supplier Diversity Program. She has a staff of 23 who manages the procurement needs of MLGW’s electric, gas and water systems. They also manage related support equipment and maintenance needs essential for the entire MLGW operations. MLGW is supplied with electricity by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a federal agency that sells electricity on a non-profit basis to 159 distributors. MLGW is TVA's largest customer, representing 11 percent of TVA's total load, with more than 421,000 electric customers.
Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) is the largest three-service utility in the nation. With more than 2,800 employees, the utility brings electricity, natural gas, and water services to customers throughout Shelby County. The utility's annual operating revenue is approximately $1.4 billion, which includes more than $1.0 billion in purchased power and gas and $255 million in O&M expenses.
Jozelle has been an avid supporter of supplier diversity and local minority- and women-owned businesses. Under her guidance, for the fifth year since 2008, MLGW has been awarded the title of 2015 APEX Corporation of the Year, by the Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum. She has been recognized as an Outstanding Business Professional for her work in promoting women- and minority-owned business inclusion in the procurement of goods and services at MLGW and throughout the Memphis community. She was honored among Memphis’ Top 50 Women of Excellence in 2008 and Top 40 Under 40 in 2007. She was 2008-10 president of the Memphis Chapter of the Links, Inc. She is past president of the JSU Memphis Alumni Chapter . She is active in a number of service organizations committed to improving the human condition.
Jozelle received an Executive MBA from the University of Memphis and a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Jackson State University. She received her Purchasing-Supply Chain Mgmt (PSCM) Certification from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2008.Mrs. Booker is married to Wayne Booker and they have three daughters and four granddaughters.
